CHICAGO AND MILAN, CLOSER THAN EVER

In 2018 they celebrate the 45th anniversary of their sister city relationship

A few short days after Assolombarda’s successful mission to Chicago where 15 of its member companies met with the Windy City’s entrepreneurial world, the mayor of this largest city in Illinois, Rahm Israel Emanuel, wished to confirm and cement its increasingly strong collaboration with the city of Milan with this statement.

“Chicago and Milan are not just sister cities, we are kindred spirits who share cultural and commercial ties,” declared Mayor of Chicago Rahm Israel Emanuel, that bind our people together despite the distance between us.

We were honored to welcome the Assolombarda delegation to Chicago last week to strengthen those bonds,” Mayor Emanuel continued, “and greatly look forward to welcoming Mayor Giuseppe Sala later this year to commemorate the 45th anniversary of our sister city relationship and celebrate the shared future of our great cities.”

The Assolombarda mission was organized with the cooperation of Francesca Parvizyar, Chair of the Milan Committee of Sister Cities International, Joseph Monastero, Chair of the Chicago Committee of Sister Cities International and by Paul Renda, governing member of Assolombarda Giovani.

Sister Cities International is already working on organizing the October 2018 event where, during Columbus Day festivities, Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala and Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel will be side by side, confirming the great understanding and cooperation that exists between these two cities.
